Over the past few years as we've shared God's Word through song, many people have asked
us what the word doulos (pronounced: doo'-loss) actually means. Well, it's derived from the original Greek
word doulob that can be best translated as "servant", or perhaps
more precisely, "bond servant" in English. It describes one who gives himself up to another's will. Paul is
described in Romans 1:1 as, "...a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the Gospel
of God--". It is our desire, though we often fall well short, to be counted among those whose service is used by
Christ in extending and advancing His cause among men.
doulos is: Rick Love, Henry Farquharson, Grant Jessen, and Brad Flanders. |
